Health is Wealth
Yes, we need money to feed our families and put a roof over our heads. After a wealthy client said when they say they prioritize work over health, I said “Health is wealth, what’s the point of being wealthy if you don’t have the energy to enjoy it?” He said “hmm, good point”. If you can’t move freely, enjoy fun, or feel at peace in your own skin, all the money in the world can’t buy a healthy, functioning body.
I think it is good to want more than average. But in today’s world, having a fit body and a calm mind is a necessity. The problem is these can’t be bought, they must be earned. Being there for yourself, so you can be there for others or like when you are on an airplane, put your mask on first.
Compounding Health Interest
Prioritizing Health Wealth is the Best Investment You’ll Ever Make. Fitness and wellness isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity, both personally and professionally. For my money motivated clients, think of it as building compound interest for your body and mind, small, consistent habits that pay off over time.
What we eat, how often we move, our mental health practices and how well we sleep are direct deposits into the quality of our lives and our performance at work. Healthy employees bring more focus, better energy, and more creativity to their roles. They become more productive during work hours therefore there is no need for overtime.
Maintaining Mobility and Independence
One of the biggest threats to quality of life as we age isn’t illness, it’s losing mobility.
Regular exercise keeps muscles strong, joints flexible, and confidence high. Physical activity maintains a healthy weight, strengthens the heart, and improves blood circulation. These are the foundations of a long health span.
Those who neglect their health often face longer recovery times, chronic fatigue, or loss of freedom later in life. Moving more today helps you stay self-sufficient for your days ahead.
Make Health Fit in Your Work Life
I have said it once, and will keep saying it. You don’t have to spend every waking hour in the gym to stay healthy. You do need consistency and movement frequently.
Simple ways to build fitness into your workday:
- Monthly health education seminars after lunch. Learning about health and wellness together builds a healthy workplace culture around supporting healthy habits.
- Combine fitness with coworkers. Daily corporate fitness classes during work hours. Walking meetings, group yoga classes, step challenges, or wellness breaks build connection and accountability.
- Online workouts and guided sessions make movement accessible from anywhere even between meetings.
- Add in movement snacks. Every bit of movement adds up, moving the garbage can, going to the bathroom on a different floor, taking the stairs, parking farther away, stretching while on calls.
Corporate Wellness=Thriving Teams
Modern organizations are realizing that wellness is a performance strategy, not a perk.
A healthy team is more focused, creative, and resilient — all essential traits in fast-paced work environments.
Incorporating corporate wellness programs like Qigong, yoga, or guided mindfulness sessions helps employees pause, breathe, and recharge.
For example during a 30 minutes of Qigong class participants can see
- Reduce stress and mental fatigue
- Improve focus and posture
- Increase overall energy and emotional balance
- Improve community culture and morale
When companies invest in employee wellbeing, they build cultures where people don’t just work, they thrive.
Health span
Living longer is only awesome if you have health as it is one of the ultimate forms of wealth. National Library on Health Medicine shows that active individuals live longer and enjoy more healthy years, free from major illness or disability. They said “It highlights the importance of preventive healthcare, proper nutrition, and regular physical activity in delaying the onset of chronic conditions and maintaining functional independence. Furthermore, the manuscript addresses the challenges faced by healthcare infrastructures and pension systems as they adapt to aging populations, with particular attention to the strain caused by workforce shortages and the rising need for long-term care.”
Exercise gives you the health freedom. It affords you the ability to travel, play with your children or grandchildren, enjoy hobbies, and remain active in your community. It will also help you in your career, it means more sustained energy, focus, and confidence, the kind of qualities that fuel long-term success.
It’s not just about adding years to your life it’s about adding life to your years.
Sleep is for the weak (or is it?)
One of my clients said “sleep is for the weak”. I grimaced then smiled and asked if I can offer a different thought. Similar to the phrase “no pain no gain” it’s a fallacy. Contrary to what many believe, regular exercise doesn’t drain energy, it enhances it. Physical activity helps encourage natural rhythms, promoting deeper sleep. The fact is, those that consistently exercise fall asleep faster, stay asleep longer, and wake up feeling refreshed and focused. Better sleep leads to better focus, productivity and strengthens relationships, at home, and at work.
Rising costs of everything
Between upcoming holidays, family expenses, health care costs and rising prices, financial wellness matters. One of the smartest ways to save long-term is by investing in a sustainable health program for yourself.
Chronic diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and obesity are major drivers of healthcare costs. When you prioritize movement, nutrition, sleep and mental health you are protecting your health and your wealth.
As Cesar Chaves said “True wealth is not measured in money or status or power. It is measured in the legacy we leave”
